Parking occupancy detection

The key to active parking lot management is the reliable detection of available parking spaces. It is achieved by wireless sensor installed in every parking space, which can detect the presence of the vehicle. Parking lot status (occupied or idle) is detected and transmitted to a cloud database and then can be accessed by users through website or mobile APPs to receive real-time updates.

WiiHey parking sensor is built with a geomagnetic sensor and an illuminance sensor to detect the magnetic field and lux change when a vehicle drives to its arrange.

Each sensor continually monitors the background magnetic field to establish a base reference, allowing self-calibration & self-learning so that it is able to differentiate parking events from other electromagnetic interferences.

The dual verification of our parking sensor increases the reliability of the whole system, the false ratio could be less than 0.1%.

Architecture

The parking lot sensor uses narrow band (NB) IoT communications technology, which combines high transmission ranges of up to several kilometres in urban environments, with low power consumption. Data are then transmitted to cloud services across the IoT network for further processing and delivery into the end-user’s system.
